DAILY DEVOTIONAL GUIDE

Under a new theme: WE SHALL ALL REAP WHAT WE SOW

To sow in the context of this theme means to make utterances, take actions, or do things whichwould lead to good or bad ends in future. To reap means to get something good or bad in return for the good or bad work done. The theme bespeaks the impartial and unalterable justice and judgment of the Omniscient God whose “way is perfect”. (Psalm 18:30) The Bible says, “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, andhe pondereth all his goings” (Proverbs 5:21) Jehovah the Almighty father gives to “…every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doing”, “for there is no respect of persons with God”. – Jeremiah 32:19; Romans 2:11.In deed we shall all reap what we sow if not now, hereafter. St. Paul declared “Some men's sins areopen beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after. Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand: and they that are otherwise cannot be hid”. – 1 Timothy 5:24, 25.

Text:
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” - Galatians 6:7.

Comment:
The greatest weapon of destruction invented by the devil to trouble mankind is deceit or falsehood. The misguided notion that one can hide himself and/or conceal lies, evil-intentions, actions, and inactions from God Almighty is borne out of self-deceit and has been the undoingof man. “There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.”

 - Job 34:22; Jeremiah 23:24;17:10.When Cain and his brother Abel brought offeringsto God, “the LORD had respect unto Abel and his offerings But unto Cain and his offerings He had no respect.” This made Cain to be very angry but he was told, “…If thou doest well, shalt thou not beaccepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door.” (Genesis 4:6, 7) But while they were in the field Cain rose up and slew his brother, Abel. Cain  thought his heinous sin was hidden. But, God Who is excellent in power and knowledge passed His judgment making Cain “a fugitive and a vagabond … in the earth”. – Genesis 4:9 – 12.St. John admonished “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” - 1 John 3:9, 10.
